This offbeat beach is the perfect spot for those looking for peace and tranquillity in the vibrant state of Goa and is ideal for having a picnic, sunbathing or swimming. Most of the tourists that come here arrive from the neighbouring town of Karwar in Karnataka. The Polem beach has more visitors from the town of Karwar in Karnataka than it has from Goa.

From the Polem beach, you can easily see the island of Anjdiv in the distance protruding out from the sea a few kilometres off the beach. The Anjdiv island is the destination of the future Naval base of India on the West Coast. The modernization and building of this base are in progress currently. When ready, INS Vikramaditya and its carrier fleet will be based at this naval base. One can reach the beach by bus from Karwar and Canacona. While there are no water sports at the Polem beach, there are a couple of shacks offering the most lip-smacking seafood of Goa. Polem is a small 670-meter-long sandy beach with small hills at its northern and southern ends. The beach and its adjoining hills make a small bay of the Arabian Sea here. The beach is tree-lined with casuarina and palm groves.
