Portofino, a hop-skip-and-a-jump from the famed Colva beach in South Goa, is a good place to head to for some decent food in an area not too well-known for its culinary delights. There’s an indoor, elegant sitting area and an outdoors section right by the busy Colva beach road, where you can eat and also watch the colourful parade of people going by. The menu is multi-cuisine with a selection of popular dishes from around the country and the world, all done quite well and with decent portions too, at modest prices. There’s Chinese style rice and noodles, with combinations of vegetables, chicken, pork, beef, lamb and seafood, so there’s a lot to choose from. And if you’re tired of Chinese, go for the tingling and spicy Korean Noodles (choice of meats), tossed with silvers of baby corn, broccoli, et al.
That they take their food seriously can be gauged by the fact that they serve Mulligatwany, the Anglo-Indian soup here, and the Fish Fingers come with real tarter sauce. Plus, Lobster Thermidor, Steaks, pastas, salads, and Goan favourites like Goan Sausage Chilli Fry, which go well as starters with drinks are available besides of course the North Indian-style veg and non-veg dishes like Chicken Kadhai, biryanis and a good bar menu.
