Sher-E-Punjab Classic is an up market restaurant located in the heart of Panjim city. This spacious restaurant is noted for its delicious Punjabi cuisine. My favorites would be their Mutton Sukha, Kaju Kismis Korma and their Lahori Kabab. Their Biryani is as authentic as it can get, and the traditional desserts are out of this world. If you want my word for it, and if you are looking a true Indian hospitality and authentic Indian cuisine, this is the place to go. The full service bar serves various exotic spirits and cocktails. The restaurant also has an exclusive party room that accommodates 25-40 people. Sher-E-Punjab Classic is open daily from 12 noon to 3:30 pm and from 7-11 pm. In the 18th century Maharaja Ranjit Singh united the whole of Punjab under one banner for 40 years. And today Mandeep Singh the proprietor has soluted his achievements by giving Goa a taste of Punjab. Begin the meal with a Corn Pakoda and cheese balls or the Hara Bhara Kebab as you order a drink and gaze out of the window at the beautiful manicured gardens. Another good way to start the meal is with the Mutton Dry Fry.The crispy dry mutton infused with spices is a great appetizer. For mains, old favourites like Aloo Chutney, Sarson da Saag, Simla Mirchi Bharwan are the vegans delight. Add a Pudina Raita, a dal (choice of tadka, makhani, maharani) to the order with a rice and roti and it makes a great meal. But the chicken and mutton preparations are worth mentioning too. Kadai Murgh, Murgh Tikka Masala, Ghost Patiala Curry, Mutton Rara – the variety is vast and varied. The chutneys are placed on the table to awaken the appetite, the pickles to offer a burst of flavour, Gulab Jamun, Rabdi, Fried Ice-cream and including a drunken brownie will add the final jest to the meal. After a meal like this – forget about the lion roaring, you might roar too.
