How does one measure the ‘Limitless Hospitality’ at the Lalit. Take a reading from the Sirocco. This is a Mediterranean wind that comes from the Sahara and reaches hurricane speeds in North Africa and Southern Europe. It usually carries red Sahara dust and is associated with storms and heavy rain, the wind being very strong, lasting about at least 4 days. And yes they do have a Sirocco at the Lalit. It’s the restaurant that commands a great view of the pool and the sea. It’s décor is that of a Goan-Portuguese casa and very lively in nature with an alfresco seating preference. With a breathtaking view of the sea and the swimming pool, the restaurant has a central cooking area, a see-through kitchen with a bar serving wine and liquor from round the world. With 62 covers at hand, the menu is designed to make a perfect blend of food and wine as all the delectable dishes and refreshing cocktails at Sirocco are hand crafted, using the finest ingredients. Start with the Crumbed Fried Camembert, the French soft cheese crumbed with panco crumb, is shallow fried and served with a blueberry sauce. Or if seafood is your choice for the day it’s the Norwegian Smoked Salmon served with horseradish cream, red onion, capers and crisp cucumber strips. For the mains the chefs recommended the Herb Crusted New Zealand Lamb Rack with olive oil accompanied with the pommes puree, spinach and Peppernota. Go Italian with the Courgette risotto made with aged parmesan, balsamic and pine nuts. End the meal with a sweet – the old favourite Tiramisu or perhaps a Parfait…it will be a fait accompli with the Tender Coconut and Mango Parfait, the Mango Parfait, the mango and coconut puree folded with whipped cream. Fold yourself in the cocoon of the tumultuous Sirocco experience.
