In this seasonal restaurant named after the Tamarind tree which stands so majestically behind the place? But then again this is a name which has lost the ‘d’ so could it be named after the squirrel shaped New World Monkey? Whatever the reason the Dar family has created a home. The place is cool. airy and relaxing. The menu stresses on home cooking. For lunch with a menu of a lighter vein try the ‘Monkey Business’. Banana, honey, almonds, cashew and spiced with cardamom. Or a milder refreshing raita-styled smoothie aptly called Long Cool Raita. Don’t forget to order the sides…the Peri Peri Olives. The hot pickled olives are a salivary treat. For a light luncheon go for the Gazpacho. The Spanish Chilled Soup with home baked bread is definitely recommended. Next in line is Carrot, Orange and Cumin Soup with balsamic…great flavours. There are the Mezze Platter, Pea and Mint Salad, Carrot and Cumin Salad spiced with a bowl of Harissa. Now while most of the preparations at lunchtime are light, dinner has a few additions on the mains. The Thai King Prawn Curry served with Thai Jasmine Rice and the Israeli Sauteed Chicken with orange and cardamom…a sweeter rendition for the palate…to name a few. The Smoked Mozarella and Caramelized Onion Quiche is refreshingly unique while another recommended favourite is the Big Greek Salad…a healthy mix. The Biryani and Fish Goshtaba are in great taste. The desserts prepared in-house are also worth a mention – the Baked Cranberry Cheesecake with cranberry coullis and the Tamarin Lemon Tart with Greek Yoghurt. A must recommended place to experience.
