Designed like a pagoda (Buddhist temple)’ the crimson-painted pagoda restaurant on the main Baga road serves some delicious Chinese food in an alfresco ambience. The menu is short and sweet but comprehensive, with offering soup, vegetarian, chicken, pork, beef, duck, seafood, rice noodles and desserts, though with only three-four dishes of each. Duck lovers can try the crispy duck, fried seasoned duck, a Chinese speciality and if you want it a little saucy, go for the duck with hot garlic sauce, duck with chilli plum sauce – which ia an unusual sweet-sour taste, or in Hoisin sauce. For a main course meal, you could order one of the fortuna rice portion and have it with char sui, roast pork chilli fry in oriental sauces or the beef sizzling nut poi, which is a beer stew with veggies. They have satays (stir-fried meats) and tempura prawns – batter-coated fried prawns, all very authentic. And a modest bar menu. The place enjoys a vantage position on the Baga road, so you can sit here and watch all the action in the tourist hot belt.
