Goans will soon witness the shift of the State Museum from its current location – Patto, Panjim – to the Old GMC complex, a more picturesque location and heritage structure along the banks of the Mandovi. Goa museum minister Alina Saldanha said that the shift will take place by the end of this year.
“I am quite sure that the chairperson and other representatives of Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) will agree to the shifting. It may take a month or two. But we will see how best we can co-exist in the premises for a short while till they find another alternative,” said Alina.
Alina also mentioned that they have obtained the necessary green signals from both Manohar Parrikar and chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar. However there is a slight conflict of interest since ESG is also housed in the premises, as the Entertainment Society of Goa is also in the process of getting ready for IFFI.
Although the museum is in the process of shifting, Alina further added that in a meeting that will be held next week with ESG, they will resolve the issue saying “We will come to a practical solution that will serve both the parties.”
