Known for speaking his mind and taking up various issues across the State, social activist and prominent lawyer Adv Aires Rodrigues has vowed to take on Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, when the Chief Minister contests a by-poll in Goa.
Hoping to capitalize on the anger and resentment that was seemingly brewing on social media platforms over the selection of Manohar Parrikar as Chief Minister, Aires has announced “If called upon I will stand up and be counted against the Goliath Manohar Parrikar.”
There is a desperate need for the people of Goa to echo loud and display their overwhelming anger against the current on-going political situation, states Aires.
“Therefore if nobody else displays the spine and guts to challenge … Manohar Parrikar in the ensuing by-election to the Goa Legislative Assembly, I will not shy away from taking head on the former Defence Minister of India, a very devious and dubious man I once embraced,” says Aires.
“From wherever he may contest, I will be doing so with your support, not just to be an MLA but to echo, loud and clear, the overwhelming anger and fear of the people of Goa on the need to enhance the decaying levels of probity in Public life,” adds Aires, in a social media message.
Back in 2013, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had said social activist Adv Aires Rodrigues is a fit case for mental hospital to study.
Since then tension has been rife between two of Goa’s most well-known sons. Will 2017 see these two giants finally go face to face? Who will come out on top, with only the people’s votes to fall back on?
