After suffering irreparable losses in the last three months, bars and alcohol outlets along the National Highway finally have something to cheer about. There is a proposed ‘distance change’.

After the Supreme Court clamped down on the sale of alcohol along highways, businesses have been hit hard. However, in an attempt to scupper the losses, the State Government has stepped in, albeit three months later.

In a decision taken earlier today, 1500 highway liquor shops could get relief after the State government has decided to measure 500 metres from approachable road and not bird’s eye view as before.

The Government of Goa has also proposed to delimit some Sate Highways in a bid to allow more outlets to carry out alcohol sale.

More information will be provided as it comes in.
