Mumbai to Goa by boat is no more a dream. Creating a history of sorts, Angriya lands in Goa. India’s and Goa’s first cruise liner, Angriya finally dropped anchor on 21st October 2018 at Murmagao Port, Vasco Da Gama, Goa, with around 220 passengers on board. It was a sight to behold! Likened to an ‘island on the move’, ‘Angriya’ is a dream come true! Especially for Goans in Goa and Mumbai who were nostalgic about the famous old Mumbai to Goa steamers that once sailed.
The Route
The 14-hour journey will cover the panoramic Konkan coastline with brief halts at Malvan and Ratnagiri.
‘Angriya’ – a force to reckon with
The first Admiral of the Maratha Navy was Sarkhel Kanhoji Angre, who fought against the British, Dutch and Portuguese naval interests on the coast of India during the 18th Century. Despite the attempts of the British and Portuguese to subdue Angre, he remained undefeated until his death. Thus was born the name ‘Angriya’ – a force to reckon with!
