The second edition of the Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Tennis Open 2025 is set to break new ground with a record 266 entries, making it the largest-ever turnout for an All-Goa tennis tournament. The state-level ranking event will kick off from April 4 at the Panjim Gymkhana courts in the state capital, continuing the legacy of its inaugural edition.

The tournament, which honours the late Dayanand Bandodkar, Goa’s first Chief Minister, has drawn players from across the state. Supported by the Goa State Tennis Association and DB Bandodkar & Sons Group, the registrations for the competition have exceeded expectations, attracting a diverse pool of talent, across age and gender.

Among the 266 entries received, 92 are eligible to play in various junior age group categories. The boys under-10 category will feature seven participants, while 23 players have registered to participate in the boys under-14 and 24 in the boys under-18 age group. The all-girls categories are also well represented with eight entries in the under-10 category, 16 in the under-14 and 14 in the under-18 age groups.

The masters and open categories are equally competitive, showcasing a mix of seasoned professionals and emerging talent. The masters segment features 44 entries, with 25 in the 45+ singles, nine pairs in the 45+ doubles, six contenders in the 55+ singles and four teams in the 55+ doubles. The open category is the highlight, with 130 entries across various events, including 59 in men’s singles, 20 in women’s singles, 25 teams in men’s doubles, 10 in ladies’ doubles and 16 in mixed doubles.

“The Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Tennis Open returns for its second year, stronger and more exciting than ever. Last year’s response was phenomenal and this year’s edition continues to build on that momentum. Our goal is to integrate tennis more deeply into Goa’s sporting culture and the enthusiasm from players of all age groups is truly encouraging,” according to Sameer Kakodkar, grandson of the state’s first chief minister and a director at the DB Bandodkar & Sons Group, which champions the event.

Slated to be held from April 4 to April 13, the tournament is set to offer a week brimming with exhilarating matches and intense competition.
