If you had to put Goa into a perfume, what would it smell like? What is the fragrance of Goa? For some, it might be the salty sea breeze by the beach or the smell of fresh cut grass. For others, it might be the smell of wet mud during the monsoons, or the aroma of spices and vinegar while taking a stroll through the Friday Market in Mapusa. The coastal state of Goa has seen a variety of influences due to its Portuguese occupation. It is this eclectic fusion of sights, sounds and smells that have influenced master perfumer Julie Massé to create Bentley’s latest signature scent A Journey to Goa with Majestic Cashmere.
The benchmark in luxury motoring
For a century, Bentley Motors has been manufacturing luxury cars that combine excellence and expertise, tradition and modernity. The Bentley Fragrances perfume collection draws its inspiration from this prestigious world in which leather and wood paneling become a work of art. Both share the same vision of style in which authenticity, elegance, and refinement are pushed to their extreme. Following exclusive launches at Harrods in London, the Bentley fragrance range has since March 2013 been rolled out in England, where it now counts as one of the benchmark brands in luxury perfumery.
A Voyage Into Scent
The 2019 collection in the Bentley Beyond series titled ‘A Voyage Into Scent’ announced this week features three distinct fragrances inspired by W.O.Bentley’s passion for travel. Of the three, Majestic Cashmere tracks ‘A Journey to Goa’ by drawing inspiration from its lush tropical beaches by the Arabian Sea and striking architecture blending Hindu, Portuguese and Ottoman influences. Perfume aficionados will find top notes of Incense, Coriander, and Ambrette Absolute, heart notes of Orris Absolute, Cashmere Woods, and Tonka Bean, and base notes of Vetiver Bourbon, Orcanox™, Labdanum Resinoid, Musk, and Patchouli. Julie Massé evokes the very essence of Goa by weaving these precious ingredients from all over the world into a treasure of India.
Rounding out the collection is A Trip to Acapulco with Exotic Musk, a silky haze of musk that evokes the sensuality of Acapulco nights in Mexico, and An Odyssey in Java with Wild Vetiver, a scent that explores the teeming riches of Java through the island’s most beautiful gift to perfumery: vetiver. Pricing for the new Bentley Beyond Collection 2019 has not been announced but will be available at major perfume retailers in the coming months.
