Goa’s sultry weather ensures that it’s sunny and humid most of the year. If you are too busy to take a leisurely dip in the sea to cool off, we’ve figured out the subsequent great alternative – ice cream!

We looked over the fashionable cones and cups to find out sparkling and best ice cream in Goa.

Mr Gelato – Cream Choc

We first heard of this manufacturer at the Panjim based pizzeria Pizza Mia and made sure we stopped by means of for some of their scrumptious gelato. If you’re around Anjuna, you’ll without a doubt go the bright façade of this parlour, with umbrella-topped multi-coloured tables proper outside. There’s a long counter inside with plenty of gelato and sorbet alternatives for every palate, be it the prosperous Belgian Chocolate, Hazelnut, Stracciatella, or Toffee, or the fruity Pistachio, Cherry or Saffron. Mix and shape the flavours and textures of your choice, or add toppings and sauces at their Cold Stone counter. Served with a freshly made waffle circle on top, it’s nearly not possible to give up at simply one scoop.

O’mio Gelateria

Granted, it is not as excellent as Mr Gelato, however provides a great alternative for those of us who can’t manage the journey to Anjuna as often as we would like. With two locations, the first in Porvorim and the second in downtown Panjim, O’mio is relatively new to town and seems to be off to a solid start.

Naturals Ice Cream

Next on the list of best ice cream in Goa is Naturals. A safe bet with plenty of locations scattered across Goa, Naturals holds its ground as one of the best even when competition seems to be popping up left, right and centre. Quite literally though. A stretch of MG road in Panjim appears to have become ice cream central and as they recently moved to a new location a few doors down, yet another slid right in where they were. But hey, we’re not complaining….

Keventers

Whipping up milkshakes like it’s 1925! Fans of this iconic ‘Made in India’ brand will be happy to learn of a new Keventers location in downtown Panjim.  Not only do they serve delicious and creatively combined milkshakes, but we also like that all of their products are served in recyclable glass jars and with paper straws. The company more or less dissolved in the 1970’s and remained inactive until 2015 when Agastya Dalmia, grandson to one of the original owners decided to take it up again. Providing a full brand overhaul to bring the company into the 21st century and target the younger Indian and international demographic. To learn more, be sure to check out their website and follow them on Instagram as they’ve definitely put a lot of time and energy into their branding and have done a great job to tell their story.

Hicecream

This Goa based brand launched its first round of ice creams in 2016 and shows no signs of slowing down. Available only as take away or home delivery in and around Assagao, they request a minimum of 24 hours notice as everything is made fresh to order. Flavours are largely alcohol based and inspired by the founders’ favourite cocktails alongside other local ingredients.

Niko Ice Cream Restaurant

If you can’t decide between ordering another drink and a dessert, this homemade ice cream outpost has just the answer for you. With flavour combinations like Cashew Feni and Grape, Wasabi Vodka, Campari and Grapefruit; and Rum and Raisin; the ice creams here are sweet with a boozy kick. If you’re staying away from alcohol, try the Salted Butter Caramel, Coconut Lime Sorbet or the strong Spice Ice Cream. The natural flavours change every day so be sure to call in and check if you’re looking for something specific. They also offer you convenient 1 litre takeaway tubs and home delivery around the area.

Pure Ice Cream

Last on the best ice cream in Goa list is Pure. Not many people have heard of this little parlour that has been serving freshly made ice cream in the city for a couple of years. The counter here has several flavour options, so take your pick from the Black Forest, Caramel Almonds or Banana Praline. If you’re a fan of fruity flavours, go for the Custard Apple and the Strawberry. We particularly liked the Jello Mello with pieces of jelly and the Peanut Butter.
