Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary

Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary is situated near Usgao, at the junction of Ponda, Sanguem and Sattari talukas. The smallest of the Goan Wildlife Sanctuaries, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary spreads over an area of 8 sq. Kms and is located 3000 ft. above sea level, on the lush foothills of the Western Ghats. The landscape of the Bondla wildlife sanctuary is beautiful and the lush green vegetation provides a natural ecosystem. The Bondla national park has a Botanical Garden, Rose Garden and Deer Park within its premises. One can also opt for a jeep safari inside the deer park in the Bondla sanctuary. This sanctuary is a favorite among school children who come here for educational excursions. Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary consists of a number of well-maintained gardens and lawns which act as favourite hangout spots for the visitors.

A mini zoo housed inside the sanctuary has various animals including the wild boar, gaur, jackals, peacocks, toddy cat, deer etc. Seen along the water bodies are a number of species of crocodiles basking in the sun. Bondla wildlife sanctuary also houses a variety of colorful birds. Elephant rides offered by the forest department are a popular activity amongst both children and adults.
