Café Del Sol is a posh shack at the south end of Palolem with a great view and coco-huts on hire. Varnished bamboo fencing makes up this beach shack. They have seafood barbeques right on the beach in the evenings, with romantic candles on the tables. The display counter includes lobster, crab or tiger prawns grilled with spices of one’s choice. Unless specified, they do the seafood with a little Tandoori masala, which is not bad. Ask for the prices in advance though. The Goan food here is excellent and you could try the Prawn Curry Rice or the Chicken Xacutti, a spicy local chicken gravy dish for an authentic Goan experience. In Indian, the Chicken Tandoori is very good, as is the perennial favourite, Butter Chicken. Those here for a drink or two can choose from mocktails like Virgin Mary, Virgin Pina Colada and cocktails like Screwdriver and Bloody Mary. Happy hours last from 5 pm to 10 pm here.
