This is one for all you upcoming Graphic designers out there who are interested in picking up some handy tips from a veteran in the field who has been there and done it before. Goan creative designer Bina Nayak, who is based in Goa, Mumbai and Pune will present a talk on the ‘Role of Graphic Design in Society’, at the Design Centre, in Alto-Porvorim, on Thursday 18th of August 2016, at 6.30pm.
Bringing Goan Graphic designers up to the mark
For all their incredible work, Graphic designers do not get the praise they deserve. After all it is said that a picture tells a thousand words. A good graphic design can virtually sell your product for you. But what is holding back designers?
These days many DTP operators with their Xerox and Flex shops are producing work which is most of the time substandard, although it is cheap and fits into the customers budget. Despite Graphic designers being able to produce a more innovative piece of work, they get sidelined.
Enter Bina
Bina, who has excellently produced the majority of covers for the Goan Publishing House, ‘Goa 1556’, will shed some light on how independent Graphic designers can stand out from the crowd and more importantly charge a premium to make up for all the research that goes into conceptualizing and executing a new design idea.
Along with Advertising and Graphic Design, Bina also specializes in:
- Painting
- Illustration
- Sculpting papier mache
- Writing
Since graduating with a BFA (applied art) from the highly reputed Sir JJ School of Art, Bombay, Bina has chalked up over 25 years of experience in Advertising and has been associated with top brands such as the Walt Disney Company. She has also worked with agencies in the caliber of DDB Mudra, Chaitra Leo Burnett and Oglivy. In Goa she has worked with the Goa Tourism Development Corporation and is currently a consultant for Slip Disc.
