Across the world, it has become more important to use education to change how we perceive and see things. The Goa Institute of Management(GIM) also believes in this idea and has been doing their utmost best to make their students gain knowledge and change their world. And tomorrow, 8th August 2018, this premier B-school celebrates GIM Day. After all, GIM completes 25 glorious years of imparting knowledge to the country’s future corporate leaders. It will be a year-long celebration which will begin with a visit from his Holiness, the fourteenth Dalai Lama.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Goa
GIM will host his Holiness on this special occasion. The Dalai Lama will deliver the keynote address on the topic – Today’s Relevance of India’s Ancient Knowledge.
There will be an intense 6 month-long training program conducted by The Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). It commences this month at the GIM campus in Sanquelim and is for the faculty and members on the Board of Governors of GIM. The Venerable Tenzin Priyadarshi, Director of the Ethics initiative and Javier Prieto, COO will conduct the program.
The Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT
This prestigious institute focuses on the development of interdisciplinary research and programs in varied fields of knowledge. These range from science and technology to education and international relations. The programs emphasize responsibility and examine meaningfulness and moral purpose between individuals, organizations, and societies. The Centre was founded to honor the fourteenth Dalai Lama’s vision and his call for a holistic education that includes the development of human and global ethics. Learn more about the Centre here.
GIM’s strength is its diversity, be it academic, social and ethnic diversity
With 25 years of experience in the field of education, GIM is now looking for new avenues to further expand. They’ve done a careful study of prevailing market for analytics education in the country. Keeping in with their aim to nurture the country’s future leaders for sustainable business, GIM has decided to incorporate the emerging paradigm of Big Data into its course system. From 2018-19, which is this academic year, the premier B-school will offer the Post Graduate Diploma in Big Data Analytics (PGDM-BDA) programme.
This is a 2 year-long full-time residential course and is the only one being offered in India. Additionally, the institute has set up an incubation cell as part of the Atal Incubation Centre. The Centre is also hosting Idealab 2018 later in October this year. Idealab is a startup event showcasing over 300 startups. In December, there will be a joint choral performance with the Oxford University choir.
