The campus of Don Bosco College, Panjim was a sight to behold as the Students’ Council 2025- 2026 along with the Cultural and Literary Committee organised Synthesis, their annual inter- class cultural event. This year’s theme, ‘Into the Multiverse’, drew inspiration from the vastness of the universe, and was chosen to celebrate portals of boundless imagination.
The two-day event was preceded by Fun Week, where students were encouraged to follow a trendy dress code for each day, namely ‘Retro Day’, ‘Fake Wedding’, ‘Heroes vs Villains’ and ‘Jersey Day’. Contestants for ‘Best Dressed Male and Female’ were judged and subsequently awarded. The Fun Week witnessed department-wise canteen battles along with a football tie- breaker tournament. E-sports contests like Fifa Console, E-Football, Plato and BGMI were organised for gaming enthusiasts.
The Synthesis inaugural was graced by the Chief Guest and Assistant Director of the Don Bosco Panjim Oratory Fr Jason Coelho, College Director Fr Kinley D’Cruz, Principal Dr Cedric Silveira, Cultural Convenor Mr Jude Fernandes, General Secretary Mr Abner Pereira and Cultural Secretary Mr Shaun Pinto. Dr Cedric welcomed the gathering and congratulated the organisers for meticulously making the arrangements for Synthesis. Complementing this, Fr Jason and Fr Kinley encouraged the students to brainstorm, collaborate and enjoy the creative process for such cultural events. The screening of the Synthesis introductory video generated a buzz of excitement among the students and faculty alike. The inaugural programme concluded with the college anthem.
Synthesis involved two submission-based events, four onstage events and six offstage events. ‘Emblems of the Cosmos’ was the mascot making competition, while ‘Chromaverse’ involved the painting of team flags. Onstage events included ‘Verse Voyage’, the entry parade where participants showcased their respective universes, ‘Cosmic Groove’, the hotly-contested group dance competition, ‘Realms of the Multiverse’, a stunning lineup of fashion shows, and ‘Mr & Miss Synthesis’, prestigious titles for the most witty, confident and deserving contestants. Meanwhile, the offstage events included ‘Rhythm Rift’, a musical quiz, ‘It Takes 3: Triple Trouble’, a surprise task-based event, and ‘Parallel Pandemonium’, a series of illogical debates riddled with conviction and contradictions. Additionally, there were three outdoor games, ‘Dimensional Dash’, a frantic treasure hunt, ‘Balloon Popping’ and ‘Blind Throwball’, which tested the participants’ athleticism and persistence.
After much speculation, the results were announced. For Photosynthesis, the photography competition, Jesslina Fernandes won in the student category, while Sr Cathrine Prisilda won in the faculty category. The department of Business Administration were lauded for winning the canteen showdown.
