Dona Paula is located just south of Miramar and is a small atoll. It is named after Dona Paula de Menezes, daughter of the then Portuguese Governor of Goa, who, according to local history, fell in love with a local fisherman named Gasper Dias. Sadly, as Fate would have it, the lovers were not united and they ended their pain in the vast waters of the ocean here.
The beach has many legends associated with it, one of them being that Dona Paula still emerges from the sea on full moon nights, wearing nothing but a pearl necklace.
