~ Festa do Povo celebrates the essence of Panaji through its community-driven efforts.
~ The two-day festival (December 14 and 15) is a testament to the city’s rich traditions and communal spirit.
Culture and creativity to take center stage as the mangrove-fringed pedestrian spine at Patto Plaza transforms into a vibrant hub for the second edition of Festa do Povo. This quintessential people’s festival, held on December 14 and 15, promises to celebrate art, heritage, and community spirit like never before.
The festival offers a colourful array of cultural experiences. Visitors can enjoy traditional Shigmo performances, captivating presentations by the Kaustubha Ballet Troupe and dances by the Vyomi troupe and Dekni troupe. One of the standout features this year is an art exhibition showcasing the works of 20 talented artists. This blend of seasoned professionals and budding creatives celebrates Goa’s artistic legacy while nurturing fresh talent; just what Festa do Povo intends to do.
Intimate storytelling sessions scattered throughout the festival grounds will bring Goa’s folklore to life, against the serene backdrop of the mangrove habitat that fringes the state capital. Mythical tales of Goa’s Rakhondars and the Seven Sisters—symbols of Mother Earth—will be recounted during the two-day festival. Additionally, Panaji-based Bookworm Trust & Library will host craft workshops and read-aloud activities, adding a touch of literary charm to the festivities.
