The Department of Information & Publicity issued a statement here today saying that, Son Latino is the second largest carnival group in the world. It consists of eight dancers and six musicians. They play percussion and wind instruments. Organised by the Directorate of Art and Culture in collaboration with Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs and Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda, Goa,
UNESCO had declared Barranquilla’s Carnival as one of the masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Columbia’s most important folkloric celebration.
Dances such as cumbia, garabato, congopuya, mapale fandango and salsa, will be performed, the statement added.
