Goa witnessed a day of mourning for Jayalalithaa

To mourn the death of Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Goa government on Tuesday declared a day of mourning. She was 68. During the mourning the flag flew at half mast while government activities continued as usual. “She had been a great and popular leader and I pay homage on behalf of the state and people of Goa. I hope that her soul will rest in peace,” said Goa’s Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar. (ToI)

J Jayalalithaa passed away on Monday night at the Apollo hospital in Chennai. She had been admitted to the hospital since September 22 this year. She was admitted to the hospital with complaints of fever and dehydration. On Sunday, she suffered a cardiac arrest.

Jayalalithaa Jayaram was an Indian actor and politician who served five terms as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, for over fourteen years between 1991 and 2016.
