A delegation representing FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) visited the state in order to assess the venues to be used during the FIFA U-17 World cup. So far they have found the work progress to be satisfactory and another site visit is scheduled to be held in October. Emphasis was laid out on making sure that the attendance during the games is to the capacity of the venue.
In 2013, India won the bid to host the 2017 edition of the U-17 FIFA world cup. Subsequently six cities across six states were shortlisted to hold the games.
