Goan Rivers declared as National Waterways

The Inland Waterways Authority of India declared six Goan Rivers as National Waterways. A meeting was organized on behalf of the Inland Waterways Authority of India by Mormugao Port Trust in Panjim.

As advised by the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, Mormugao Port Trust is authorised to execute development work on behalf of Inland Waterways Authority of India in coordination with Goa’s State Government. River Mandovi, Zuari and the Cumbarjua Canal will soon see a lot of much needed developmental work like repairing of jetties, providing navigational aid and dredging wherever necessary.

This is great news as it will help occupational fishermen and others who use these Goan rivers.
