The Goa College of Agriculture, Old Goa, will host its first inter-college cultural and talent festival, Sahastra 2025, on May 26 and 27, 2025. The two-day event marks a significant cultural initiative by the students of the college, aiming to bring together participants from educational institutions across the state.

Organized entirely by the student body, Sahastra features a series of competitive events referred to as “Trials,” designed to test participants across areas such as creativity, intellect, physical ability, and problem-solving. The event also includes stage performances and on-ground challenges structured around a fictional universe, adding a narrative element to the competitions.

The program will begin with inaugural sessions on both days from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM. The festival intends to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents while promoting teamwork, leadership, and innovation.

Sahastra is also seen as a step toward building a cultural identity for the **Goa College of Agriculture which was established in 2022 and inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister of Goa. As the only government-run agricultural college in the state, the institution focuses on research, education, and outreach in the agricultural sector. Its facilities include a food processing center, seed unit, and an agri-eco tourism center.

According to organizers, the event seeks to contribute to the development of soft skills and creative expression among students while fostering interaction with peers from other institutions. It is expected to draw participation from colleges across Goa.

The Goa College of Agriculture aims to use initiatives like Sahastra to complement its academic and research objectives with co-curricular engagement.
