Kelyanchi Zantra, the extraordinary festival of Sri Dev Bhabreshwar, took place from February 17 to February 23 this year in Khobrawado, Calangute. This annual celebration, also known as “Ghadanchi Jatra,” transformed the Babreshwar Temple into a breathtaking spectacle of culture and devotion. Thousands of locals and tourists gathered to witness the unique rituals associated with this festival, which revolves around the offering of entire banana bunches to the deity.

A Canopy of Bananas and Sacred Offerings

Each day, devotees presented more than 2,500 bunches of bananas as a sacred offering. These bunches were then meticulously tied to a wooden frame above the deity, forming an awe-inspiring canopy of fresh bananas. The additional banana bunches, both raw and ripe, went up for auction every evening, drawing enthusiastic bidders from across the region. The festival’s distinctive traditions and spiritual significance captivated all who attended.
