Goa Lokayukta summoned Inspector General of Police Sunil Garg on October 21. The IPS officer has been asked to record his statement in regards to a bribery charge levelled against him by a businessman from Goa.
“Garg has been asked to remain present before Goa Lokayukta on October 21. His statement would be recorded during that time,” a senior official in the anti-corruption ombudsman’s office told PTI today.
Businessman Munnalal Halwai had complained to Lokayukta that the IGP Sunil Garg had demanded a bribe of Rs. 5 lakh from him. The businessman had even submitted an audio recording in which the police officer admits to having taken the bribe.
