One of the northernmost beaches of Goa, the secluded Mandrem Beach lies between Arambol and Ashwem Beach. The charm of Mandrem Beach lies in its secludedness as most tourists prefer visiting the other popular beaches in North Goa. The 790m long white sand beach is lined with tall palm and casuarina trees and is peppered with some small beach shacks.
The serene Mandrem beach, tucked between Ashwem and Arambol beaches in North Goa is a place of calm and solitude. Resplendent with white sand and surf, the Mandrem beach is at its scenic best at high tide when the sea rushes in to meet the Mandrem creek that runs parallel to the coastline. This beach is a fishing beach and early bird visitors will see the fishermen unloading their daily catch from their gaily coloured boats.
Offering a beautiful sunset and calm ambience, Mandrem Beach Goa is ideal for couples, people looking for solitude and foreign tourists. It is also a great place to spot crabs, kingfishers, herons and turtles and practice yoga and meditation. Mandrem Beach is joined by a small creek to the Arabian Sea and has several bridges that cross to the other side. The beauty of the beach reaches its peak during the high tide when seawater rushes into the Mandrem creek.

The Mandrem beach, like the others in Goa, is most popular during the tourist season which extends from October to March. At this time the seas are calm and safe to swim in whilst the weather is pleasant with sunny days that are not too hot. The summer season; from April to June is also a good time to visit the beach even though the fierce summer sun can get quite hot. The monsoon months are the least popular time to visit the beaches of Goa since the inclement weather, frequent storms and rough seas make swimming and other beach activities impossible.
What to See at Mandrem Beach Goa
Mandrem is a quiet beach in North Goa and not as frequented by tourists as some of the other beaches in the area. Located between the beaches of Ashwem and Arambol, this beach is divided from the Arambol beach by a rocky outcropping that extends into the sea. The Mandrem creek runs along the beach, parallel to the coastline and fills up at high tide.
Fringed by coconut palms along the shore the beach is quiet and picturesque and the rustic charm of the fishing boats drawn up along the beach adds to the atmosphere of peace and serenity. This is further enhanced by the bamboo bridge that spans the creek and brings you onto the white sands of the beach itself.
The beach is also home to several beach shack restaurants during the tourist season. These restaurants are charmingly built out of bamboo and coconut palms and are known for their seafood delicacies. They also serve several authentic Goan dishes as well as Continental cuisine.
Unlike some of the other beaches in North Goa, there are no water sports operators on Mandrem beach. However, you can swim in the sea as long as you follow the instructions of the lifeguards and stay within the designated safe areas.
Mandrem is a great beach for those who want to avoid the crowds and the hustle and bustle that is present on the more popular tourist beaches. Lazing the day away and soaking up some sun before retreating to the beach shack of your choice for a delicious meal and some ice-cold beverages is the perfect way to relax at Mandrem beach.
