Panaji, July 2023: More than 2,000 participants have registered for the latest edition of the Goa Tourism Nuron Rotary Rain Run, which is scheduled to kick off in North Goa on July 30.

Organised by the Rotary Charitable Trust of Porvorim, the charitable run is assisted by army and naval personnel. While the army plays a crucial role in logistics, providing volunteers and overseeing the setup of essential facilities such as tents at all hydration points, a breakfast counter and a medical room, the Navy’s contribution involves providing volunteers to support the event.

“There has been a significant growth in the number of registrations for this year’s edition of the race compared to last year,” says Avinash Singh Parmar, chairman and spokesperson of Rotary Rain Run. Armed forces personnel have also registered to run in the event, across categories.

320 men and 30 women have registered to participate in the 21-km run, while the 10-km run will involve 495 men and 85 women. The 5-km run consists of 527 men and 223 women participants, while the 2-km run has been signed up for by 272 men and 113 women.

The event will also involve the participation of students from the Porvorim-based Sanjay Centre for Special Education as well as wheelchair-bound athletes.

Participants will begin the run from the Sports Authority of Goa athletics stadium, Bambolim, Goa on July 30.

Registrations are open for an extra period of time in view of the rush by enthusiastic runners to enrol in the event.
