The crowds may have thinned a bit, but Nine Bar, on the Cliffside at Little Vagator, the epicenter of the rave music scene in Goa, still rocks. It’s probably quite not right to call Nine Bar a nightclub because it always shuts down at 10 pm in accordance with Goa’s anti-sound pollution laws. But it rocks nevertheless from 5 pm to 10 pm. Don’t expect a swish setup as they have a sprawling mud dance and starry sky as the disco lights, with a few chairs and stone seats surrounding the dance area. At Nine Bar, they play only trance music with a different DJ from a different country taking over the console. On a good night, there are over 1,000 party animals grooving away. There’s no entry charge except during the peak Christmas season, but he drinks at the bar cost a bomb. There’s a usual beer and Scotch in addition to some other drinks. There’s also a limited snacks menu which doesn’t make much of an impact. But people come here to party away in complete abandon, going higher and higher into various stages of trance.
