Everyone’s familiar with going to the circus as kids. Whether it was our parents or grandparents who took us, off we went, to be enthralled by the acrobats, the jugglers, the animals and all else that circuses are famous for. Sometimes we even wanted to be in the show as circus performers ourselves. In more recent years, as young adults, the circus didn’t quite hold the same appeal and we found other activities to engage ourselves. These included going to pubs and clubs, music concerts and of course, the world-famous electronic dance music festivals like Sunburn and Supersonic. Both these used to be held right here in Goa.  But what if there was something just as entertaining but on a much smaller scale that you could be a part of? Find out this October with the magic and joy at La La Land Goa.

It’s all magic at La La Land Goa

It’s funny that we say, “time for la la land” to little kids when trying to get them to bed at night. The La La Land Goa in focus here is definitely not for sleeping. This two-day festival is one of magic, joy and music and a fun event for the whole family. The venue for the first edition was the popular Museum of Goa in Saligao. And what a success it was. This time around for its second edition, it takes place in the lush garden of a beautiful Goan mansion in Nagoa, Arpora on the 19th and 20th of October.

Unlike the usual entertainment scene in Goa which can sometimes be monotonous, one can expect a lovely time at La La Land Goa. From the music to the food, every bit of it is carefully and lovingly curated and organized to make it magic for everyone involved.

The Music

The magic and happiness at La La Land Goa is something that captures the heart and attention of people attending this festival. The music line up was funky and cool with a number of artists from India as well as foreign acts making their mark. This year, while the line up looks to be different in terms of performers, it still seems like it’s going to be a fantastic experience.

Expect a wide variety of music, from Fado by Nadia Rebello and Classical Karnatic (on the saxophone!) by Madhav Haridas and Mayank Bedekar to the number one female beatboxer of India, Manasi Nene. Tritha and band will treat us from just simply beautiful to electric music. The young Goan talents of Uncut Diamonds will bring the Goan feel to the festival, with a mix of Konkani and folk songs, jazz and pop. And the organizers have promised more musical surprises.

The Silent Disco is another cool and fun experience. Popular in Palolem in South Goa, now one can experience it at La La Land Goa with no strings attached. With Silent Disco, each one is free to put on their own pair of headphones and dance away to a music genre of their choice, without disturbing anyone around them. DJs are giving everyone a choice of commercial, jazzy, drum and base. Sure, it does look a little weird but who cares when you’re having fun?

More good times at La La Land Goa

La La Land Goa is an all-around happy experience. Besides the music, there will be a games corner with games for both adults and kids to try their hand at. A small flea market will also take place at the event selling locally sourced, upcycled and sustainable products. You can even get a shave and massage at the pop-up Chop Shop barber shop. The food stalls will sell finger licking food and there will be a well-stocked bar.

The magic of La La Land Goa is definitely not something to be missed with acrobatic and spectacular performances in the garden beside the fantastic music and everything else that will be going on like the special workshops and even the mime performance with the very talented Drupad Gaonkar.

The organizers have been very clear that La La Land Goa is a festival for everyone and every wallet. Their aim is to make La La Land Goa a 100% eco-friendly festival by not allowing single-use plastic, avoiding the use of non-recyclable materials like flex, and minimizing the carbon footprint where possible.
