Students at the Verna-based Padre Conceicao College of Engineering (PCCE) gained valuable insights into IT workspaces and career opportunities during a recent outreach event conducted at the campus by Kilowott, a leading IT company based in Porvorim.

During the outreach event, organised as part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Kilowott and PCCE, the latter institute’s third-year engineering students were familiarised with recent developments in the IT universe and provided practical advice for professionally navigating the rapidly evolving sector.

As per the MoU, Kilowott is entrusted with providing students from PCCE and four other engineering colleges in Goa with valuable industry insights and hands-on practical skills.

The outreach session, led by the Kilowott officials, Kirk Duarte and Sandra Mascarenhas, was designed to equip students with the knowledge they need to successfully launch their careers. The duo shared their experiences in the IT field, offering a detailed look into the day-to-day realities of software development, the skills that make a difference and how students can prepare themselves to thrive in the industry.

From discussing the various roles available in IT to exploring growth trajectories for fresh graduates, Mascarenhas said that “while today’s engineering students face an exciting world of opportunities, it takes dedication, the right skills and continuous learning to truly succeed, along with resilience and adaptability in an ever-changing job market.”

Reflecting on the impact of Kilowott’s session, Razia Sardinha, the Training and Placement Officer at PCCE, said: “We are incredibly thankful to the Kilowott team for visiting our campus and bringing such valuable opportunities to our students,” she said.

Third-year engineering students who attended the outreach session were equally enthusiastic. “This wasn’t just another pre-placement talk. Kilowott showed us a bigger picture of the industry, revealing career paths that many of us didn’t know existed. I’m grateful for this experience and the guidance it provided,” said Simran, a third-year IT student.
