~ Washing of the Feet Ceremony by Bishops Simião Purificação Fernandes and Fr. Henry Falcao adds profound spiritual depth to Fr. Rob Galea’s Goa concert
In two impassioned performances last weekend, Maltese-Australian priest Fr. Rob Galea captivated an audience of over 5000 fans, with his soul-stirring gospel music at the grand concerts held over two days at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Taleigao.
Organised by CCR TV, the concerts showcased Fr. Rob’s unique ability to blend contemporary worship music with deeply spiritual messages. Performing selections from his eight celebrated albums alongside beloved Gospel tracks woven around the theme, ‘Something about You,’ Fr. Rob inspired a diverse audience, leaving them deeply moved by his passionate renditions and magnetic stage presence.
The performances over two days, were elevated by the inclusion of other noteworthy musicians, who accompanied Fr. Rob’s act. On the first day, the Band of Priests, an ensemble of clergymen, opened the evening with a stirring act, while the second day witnessed mesmerising performances by Goa’s renowned Fado singer Sonia Shirsat and YU4C Goa.
Each day was imbued with a spiritual highlight as well—the Washing of the Feet ceremony, which symbolises wholehearted belief in God. On Saturday, Auxiliary Bishop of Goa e Damão, Simião Purificação Fernandes performed the ritual, while Fr. Henry Falcao took up the honour on Sunday, symbolising humility and service to youth.
“My time in Goa has been a blessing. I’m deeply moved by the warm hospitality and the overwhelming response from the Goan community. Thank you for making this an experience I will always cherish,” Fr. Rob expressed after the event, promising to return to India. Fr. Rob’s performance in Goa, represented the third leg of his India tour, which also comprised musical pit stops in Mumbai and Bengaluru. He previously performed in Goa last year.
Reflecting on the overwhelming success of the event, CCR TV President Merwyn Rodrigues said, “This concert was not just about music; it was about bringing people closer to faith, hope and community. Seeing the joy and spiritual renewal on the faces of thousands who attended over two days is truly humbling. We are grateful to Fr. Rob Galea and all the performers for making this event an extraordinary celebration of Gospel music.”
