Patnem Beach is one of the quietest and most secluded seashores of South Goa. Located in the city of Canacona, this seashore is a little slice of Paradise. The seashore is recognised for its peacefulness and splendour as well as the succulent seafood that is accessible in the area.

When to Go

Like the rest of Goa, the best time to visit Patnem beach is in the winter, from October to March, when the cool and pleasant weather and calm seas make perfect weather for swimming and other beach activities. The summer season from March to June is also good weather for swimming even though it is very hot. However, as the monsoon approach at the end of May, the seas become very rough with dangerous undercurrents until the monsoons are finished in September.

What to Do

There are fewer amusements at Patnem than at the other beaches as the chief charm of this beach is it’s quiet and solitude. The Several ubiquitous Goan beach shacks line shore. These shacks made of bamboo and coconut palms are known for their delicious seafood delicacies and authentic Goan cuisine. There are also shops where one can buy souvenirs and trinkets, but there are less of these than there are at other, more popular beaches.

The sea at Patnem is usually safe to swim in, but it is important to follow the instructions of the lifeguards as there can sometimes be dangerous undertows that can take a novice swimmer unaware.

Where to Eat

The cafe at Jaali serves yummy small plates of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern inspired food. Plus, great coffee, cakes and cocktails. The garden setting makes it delightful place to hangout.

April 20, at the north end of the beach, is possibly Patnem’s best restaurant. The cuisine is refreshingly different and cocktails are creative. They also have premium beach villas and huts. Don’t miss the mouth-watering specialty roast New Zealand lamb at Nada Brahma, which specializes in fusion dishes. Their cocktails are also professionally crafted. Vegan and vegetarian food is served there as well. Magic View is recommended for Italian cuisine including pizza. Home is another tourist favourite.
