Fatal accident: 21-year-old pillion rider falls into River Mandovi, dies

In an accident that turned fatal, a 21-year-old lost his life on the Panaji-Ribander causeway. The victim, Rohan Parab, fell into River Mandovi after the Maestro scooter he was riding pillion had a head on collision with a WagonR. The body was fished out an hour later from the River.

According to the Old Goa police, Sunil Dut Narayan Fadte (55), from Marcel was traveling from Ribander to Panaji in his car when he got into a collision with a scooter going the opposite direction. The rider of the scooter Sunil Naik escaped from the accident with injuries.

However, his pillion rider, Parab wasn’t so fortunate. Parab fell into the water during the high tide which made it difficult for the authorities to trace his body. The body was shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) after being recovered. At GMC, Parab was declared dead.

The polce have informed that the driver is being booked for negligent driving under section 304-A of the Indian Penal Code.
