Pousada means resting place in Portuguese and Tauma is a shortened form of owner Neville Proenca’s father’s name Taumaturgo. This is one of Goa’s most charming small hotels, designed by leading Goan architect Dean D’Cruz. He used local laterite stone and heritage earthenware roof tiling in the colonial style, are nestled in a lush tropical garden, overlooking the central swimming pool. This chic resort is full of surprises, superb food at the Copper Bowl, fresh flowers gently scattered on the walkways at sunset and a thinking of a glass wind chime in the evening breeze.
