The ambience is ‘Simply Goan’. This is paradise for the local palate. The menu boasts of a big selection of fish and then there is the thali. One has a choice of five different variations…the Fish Curry Rice, the Prawn Curry Rice, the Chicken Thali, the Vegetable Thali and then the Specialty Thali. The Specialty Thali consists of samarachi kodi, melgor, a side dish, molho, rice, a banana, bread and a sweet (vonn). The Melgor (made of channa or pumpkin or tendli) and the side dish made of (teesroi or kishmur or dried prawns) change from day to day. Nelson has effectively packaged tradition with taste. The Fish Curry Thali boasts of a huge darne of boneless fish (Chonak or kingfish) the fish curry (ooman) – Hindu Goan Style, a vegetable, sol kadi, rice and a dessert. Attractively priced at Rs.100, this Malvan-styled Thali could appeal to different local palates. The portions seem good and the choice ample. So go slow as you climb up the Sangolda slope, the Goan Thali awaits.
