Goa, October 2025: Sofar Sounds Goa, the Goan chapter of the global Sofar Sounds community, marks a milestone this month—8 incredible years of curating intimate, magical live music experiences across the state. Since its first gig in October 2017, Sofar Goa has grown into a vibrant community of artists, audiences, and volunteers who share a deep love for music that truly matters.
Founded with a mission to bring back the lost magic of live music, Sofar Sounds transforms everyday spaces—rooftops, art galleries, homes, cafés—into warm, welcoming venues for secret gigs. Each event features three diverse acts across genres, giving audiences the joy of discovering new and independent artists up close, without the distractions of phones, chatter, or commercial noise.
Over the past eight years, Sofar Goa has hosted over a hundred gigs and supported hundreds of independent artists, from local Goan musicians to touring national acts. The initiative, led by City Leader Nupura, continues to be completely volunteer-driven—making Goa one of the few non-ticketed Sofar cities in India, allowing young and curious audiences to experience live music in its purest form.
A Stage That’s Welcomed Artists From Around the World
Sofar Goa has proudly featured a rich mix of artists over the years — from emerging local voices to globally acclaimed performers. Some of the international artists who have graced the Sofar stage include Madame Gandhi, Scott Hildebrand, and Quentin Moore.
Nationally celebrated artists such as Hanita Bhambri, Nikita Ahuja, Easy Wanderlings, and Valentine Shipley have also brought their unique sounds to Sofar Goa audiences.
Homegrown Goan talent continues to shine at every gig, with artists like Aviv Pereira, Valerie D’Silva, Sigmund De Souza, Omkarayh Namah, Rochelle D’Silva, Anika Bharwani, and many others making their mark through heartfelt performances.
Iconic Venues, Magical Memories
Part of Sofar Goa’s charm lies in its ever-changing venues — each transformed into a one-night-only listening room. Over the years, gigs have been hosted at some of Goa’s most beautiful and unexpected locations, including Reis Magos Fort, Museum of Goa (MOG), Pilerne, Fort Tiracol Heritage Hotel (Tiracol), Urrak Bistro (Candolim), Clay Co-Working (Anjuna), Wildflower Villas (Nerul), The Island House (Divar), FTR Vinyl Bar (Panaji), and Josmo Studio (Porvorim).
A Team Fueled by Passion, Not Paychecks
What makes Sofar Goa truly special is the dedicated volunteer team that powers it. Each member comes from a completely different professional background—yet they come together month after month to keep the spirit of Sofar alive.
From Chintan Shet, who once attended as a guest and now manages marketing for Sofar Goa for the past seven years, to Tammanna Arora, Jonathan Lopez, Aldrina Cabral, Vishal Hanmattekar, Arnold Carvalho, Keane Cotta, and Ankur Dinge—each brings their own creative spark. The team spans across diverse professions such as law, human resources, travel, NGO, design, and music—all united by their shared love for live, original music.
Balancing their regular day jobs with their passion for Sofar, this core group invests their personal time and energy to curate every gig, find new artists, scout venues, handle logistics, and make each event a seamless, soul-filled experience. Their collective spirit embodies what Sofar stands for—community, creativity, and joy.
A Celebration of Music & Community
To commemorate this milestone, Sofar Sounds Goa’s 8th Anniversary Gig will be held on Saturday, 25th October 2025, at 5 PM onwards. Guests can expect a stellar line-up of artists, a beautiful secret venue, and a few surprises crafted specially for this celebration of music, community, and connection.
