As part of the government’s initiative to develop hinterland tourism, Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has proposed Goa’s first nature based theme park on the banks of Mayem Lake, in Bicholim.
As per the tender document, the planned hotel which will be connected to the theme park is permitted to have an eco-amusement park, nature park, adventure park and recreational lake.
The tender mentions that, “With a large number of families visiting Goa and the existence of a high demand for family-orientated entertainment activities in the state, there is significant potential for this industry.”
The theme park along with the hotel project received a thumbs-up especially after an observation that Goa faces stiff competition from other states like Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka as well as international tourist destinations.
