If You’re looking for a riverside restaurant with scenic views in Panaji or thereabouts, head to Terry’s at Betim, across the river from Panaji. There’s a free public ferry service every 15 minutes from near the iconic Hotels Mandovi on the Panaji Riviera, close to the police HQ. Step off the the ferry on the other side of the river, there’s Terry’s in front of you right on the wharf. The food at Terry’s is good and perfectly compliments the great view and also valve-for-money. Sit inside in A/C comfort on the plush chairs. They’re open for a pre- lunch snack, lunch and dinner, so it’s a great place to lounge around in between meals or otherwise with a drink and some snacks and watch the lazy action on the river outside. But you can also sit outside next to the wharf. The menu is well balanced with selections from different cuisines, all superbly done.
Try the French Onion Soup, which is done with beef stock for that wholesome taste, if you’re looking for something light. Order the Chicken Thai Salad or Shrimp Cocktail (on request) if you’re looking for a light meal on a hot day. They also have the local-style seafood preparations like Rava-fried Rawas (black pomfret) or Goan-style Peri Peri Prawns, which are slightly on the spicy side. The pastas are really superb here and we recommend the Spaghetti Con Polo, Chicken –Pasta with a cream and cheese sauce. There’s also the Pork Chops, or get stuffed with a superb Mackeral Recheado (Goan-style stuffed fish). There’s a selection of signature dishes from around the world. Go global with preparations like the Lebanese Seabass and Caribbean Prawns. English-style Baked Fish with rosemary and potatoes, Chicken Cordon Blue, or even the Indian Chicken Butter Masala. Coupled with a beautiful setting, and a meal here becomes a memorable experience.
