Approximately 70 North Goa Tourist Taxi Association Members recently expressed their resentment towards the deputy director of transport, M Pilarnkar over the delay in issuing the All-India permits for their vehicles.
According to sources, the tourist taxi operators have applied for the All-India permits 3 months ago. They said that the notice board indicated that the permits would be issued within 3 days. The executive members of the association said that they have purchased their taxis on bank loans. Due to the lack of income, the interest rates are piling up leaving them in dire straits.
All the members have met the criteria required for the permits. The deputy director informed them that he had received the file on Monday and if the file consisted of any ‘flaws’, action would be taken against the dealing clerk.
The members urged the politicians not to play with their sentiments, as some believed that the government was promoting non-Goan operators and depriving the locals. Hope the matter is resolved soon so that taxi operators can commence work immediately.
