Top 3 projects by GTDC to look out for in Goan Tourism

‘Goan tourism’ industry is on a verge of a Filip. Some projects undertaken by Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) in recent times have introduced activities, otherwise unknown to the state. Activities such as the Helicopter rides and Hot air balloon rides in South Goa. These activities have been introduced for the first time.

They have also announced a few new projects to be undertaken in the coming period. These projects will enhance the tourists experience in Goa. It would also be the first time that these projects would be introduced in Goa.

1) Ropeway from Reis Magos to Panjim

The organization announced its plans to build a ropeway. It will carry passengers from state’s Capital Panjim to Reis Magos fort across the river Mandovi. It is proposed to have 30 and 40 cable cars with a carrying capacity of 1,200 to 1,500 passengers per hour.

*Proposed duration of waiting for it to start – Approximately 9 months according to recent reports in the newspapers.

2) Amphibious vehicle

Driving on the road to traveling on the river in the same vehicle will be soon made possible in Goa. In a never before conducted exercise, the GTDC is hoping to introduce amphibious vehicles to Goa. There are two routes planned for the activity.

The Hinterland route will showcase mangroves and a bird sanctuary. This will cover Panjim, Ribandar and the Chorao Island (includes Dr Salim Ali bird sanctuary and Mangroves). While the Heritage route will be from Panjim to Old Goa and back. This will cover the historical monuments of the area. The buses have a seating capacity of 32 people.

3) Sea plane

Addition of this activity will make the Goan tourism even more glamorous. It has been proposed to launch fights from the Dabolim airport. Choice of landing at three different venues will be provided. One is the popular jetty of Dona Paula, second is Miramar beach and the rather secluded location of Coco Beach.
