Unusual Spirits has unveiled its inaugural project, the launch of a limoncello branded LIMONCELLO 24, based on an old, authentic Italian recipe. Limoncello 24 is infused with the sublime and luxurious zest of the renowned Indian Gondhoraj lemons from West Bengal.
Limoncello 24, is named in tribute to the terroir of 24 Parghanas in West Bengal whose soil, sun and air are the natural source of these exceptional Godhoraj lemons. This distinctive liqueur delivers a vibrant, uplifting flavour profile, which imparts a captivating character that will appeal strongly to beverage enthusiasts.
Developed in the kitchen of creator Lolita Sarkar, Limoncello 24 is the culmination of three years of meticulous experimentation aimed at determining the choicest lemons and developing a superior and unique flavour & fragrance. Gondhoraj, a sublime variety of lemons, ‘the king of fragrance’, as the name suggests, were selected for their delicious and luxurious zestfulness.
Crafted in small batches, this artisanal beverage is entirely handmade, from the picker (the villagers of 24 parganas) to the peelers (women from Goa). Limoncello 24 is free from preservatives and chemicals, resulting in an authentic, natural & pure rendition of the Italian recipe to create an exceptional farm-to-bottle liqueur.
Produced exclusively out of Goa, Limoncello 24 is available for purchase through select stores and distributors in the state.
Unusual Spirits also aims to launch its “Fragoncello”, a strawberry liqueur, by February, 2025. More liqueur and aromatic products are planned for later in the year.
Tasting Notes
This luxurious, sweet, refreshing and zestful beverage is ideally enjoyed after being chilled to sub-zero temperatures in the freezer!
It can be consumed neat, served over ice, or mixed with a splash of soda, tonic or sparkling wine.

About Founder Lolita Sarkar
Lolita Sarkar is a former producer and co-director of television commercials from Mumbai, as well as a restaurateur, food stylist, photographer, and entrepreneur in the culinary and now alco-bev sectors. With over 2 decades of experience in producing and directing films, TV and commercials. She also operated two cafés and a commercial kitchen named Desi Deli in Mumbai for three years. Additionally, she creates bottled food products such as jams, potted meats, mushrooms, and fermented vegetables, all designed for long shelf life without preservatives.
Lolita is a certified sake professional, having obtained her certification from SEC Japan.
Her indulgence of choice is an ice-cold Limoncello 24 at the end of the day, savouring its zesty sweetness and allowing the refreshing warmth to envelop her.
