With so many people buying houses in Goa to either live in or just for investment purposes, it’s no wonder that doing up the interiors of these homes has become a major deal. Whether it’s an old Goan house or a modern villa or even a classy apartment, interior design in Goa is starting to pick up in a big way. A few months ago, And So, the experiential design atelier opened its doors in Goa. This one-of-a-kind interior design store paved the way for more establishments in this field. And Goa now has a brand new interior design store in the form of Vaishnavipratima- Signature Collection, Goa at Socorro in North Goa.
Interior design from Mumbai to Goa
Vaishnavipratima is a unique store itself. Named for its owner, Vaishnavipratima and coming from the big city, this interior design store is famous for its exclusive customized furniture and design for Indian homes. The first Vaishnavipratima store opened in 2016 in Mumbai and has seen a lot of success since then. The Goa store is located in the heart of Socorro in North Goa. Socorro is an upcoming location for people, locals as well as outsiders, looking to make Goa their base of operations for the dual purpose of work as well as home.
Meet the interior designer herself, Vaishnavipratima!
Vaishnavipratima is a lady who wears many feathers in her hat, of a mother, an entrepreneur, a traveler, and an artist. More importantly, in the field of interior design, she is self-made and self-taught. For years, she designed and re-designed the interiors of her own home as well as those belonging to family and friends. Fast-forward to 2012 and Vaishnavipratima decided to become a proper interior aesthetic consultant and help other people design their dream homes. In 2015, she started designing furniture and set up her self-titled interior design studio at Lower Parel in 2016. Today the studio has exclusive, customized furniture made for Indian homes and offers consulting services for interior designing and home makeovers. And her store is a reflection of herself, drawing inspiration from her travels and her unique sense of style and aesthetics. The final picture is one of creativity and warmth.
Vaishnavipratima is open to the public
Not only does Vaishnavipratima offer a selection of exclusive customized furniture designed especially for the Indian home but it showcases some lovely jewelry and Indian inspired art too. The setting of this store in a gorgeous old Goan house with Portuguese influences is perfect for the kind of uniquely personalized, stylish and yet functional products available for sale. The villa is surrounded by beautiful bougainvillea, overlooking a lush, green space which showcases some of the customized furniture the brand is famous for.
It opened on the 14th of September and is now open to the public from Mondays to Saturdays between 10 am and 8 pm.
Inside the 90-year-old gorgeous Goan villa
The first room of the villa consists of beautifully handcrafted furniture pieces that are strikingly fused into two diverse color tones: subtle pastels and chunky bright pop colors. These include mirrors, chests of drawers, consoles, bookshelves, bar units, wing chairs etc that are all made by Indian artisans.
Pop art dining couture and various artists’ works are on display in the second room. The third room is the siesta corner- comprising of an elaborate four-poster bed with cushions, throws, and rugs passionately developed in the current and possibly next year’s Pantone color tones. One can see Shibori and block-printing art in various palettes here.
The intimate open café area is in the passage and back foyer of the villa and will soon serve exotic teas and bites. Vaishnavipratima Goa will be introducing exquisite lightings and conducting art workshops as well.
Vaishnavipratima Goa is not just selling beautiful furniture and interior design services. The Goa store is completely different from its sister concern in Mumbai. The second Vaishnavipratima- Signature Collection also showcases some gorgeous designer wear from designer wear by Prama (Chanderi sarees and Indo-western outfits by Pratima Pandey) and Bhavaa jewelry comprising of semiprecious gemstone collections. These have been introduced for the first time into the brand.
As Vaishnavipratima says, “Within a few months of opening my flagship store in Mumbai in June 2016 I had a secret wish of opening my second store soon. Seeing its success, expansion was only natural and nothing better than a heritage Goan villa! Moreover, post-intensive market research and the current lifestyle changes, Goa seemed like the ideal place for my designs. It is after all known as a ‘Tourist’s Paradise!”
