Goa government has directed water-sports operators from Cansaulim to Cavelossim beaches (also the riverine area) to stop operation for BRICS. It is only limited to these areas in South Goa. The water-sports activities will be suspended from October 14 to 17. Fishermen in Betul mini harbour and its vicinity have also been asked to refrain from fishing during BRICS.

The water-sports services have been suspended for security reasons. The government has warned of strict action against violators. Police have already begun their drill in the area. Besides, additional forces from Delhi are assisting in the security arrangements for BRICS summit.

BRICS summit will be held on October 15-16. Heads of state of all the five member countries are to attend. This year’s BRICS summit is the eight such meet. The theme of India’s BRICS Chairmanship is Building Responsive, Inclusive and Collective Solutions.
