Muhammad Ali Jinnah said, “No struggle can ever succeed without women participating side by side with men.” This is a belief that the founders of Nordic Intent, the Goa-based startup accelerator and incubator hold true. With a workforce of close to fifty percent women, company directors Caleb and Judah Fernandez have set the standard for a gender inclusive, dynamic, and persistent workforce in Goa.
Behind every successful man …
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Nordic Intent set about appreciating the women in its organization and child companies by ensuring that they felt special. Through the day, the ladies were showered with gifts and surprises. Cupcakes, flowers, even handwritten sentiments from fellow employees were just a few of the gestures that were made through the day. “Women make up close to half our workforce,” says Judah, “and each and every one of them is the driving force behind what we do here. Appreciating them on International Women’s Day is honestly the least we can do for everything that they do for us.”
Embracing the startup culture
Nordic Intent is a well sought after employer for their ‘work hard, party harder’ mentality. Embracing the startup culture, the offices based in Porvorim host regular team parties and events on and offsite. Cultural festivities around Christmas, Diwali, and Eid are common, as well as team-based activities such as the recently held ‘Lagori’ tournament that saw the various companies compete against each other in the childhood game of ‘7 tiles’.
As Nordic Intent expands its operations in Goa, it looks forward to an exciting and fruitful financial year ahead. “Success is a team effort,” says Caleb Fernandez, “and every day is an opportunity to grow and become better. This is made possible because of the support and hard work of every single individual.”
