Goa Government has enrolled 20 private hospitals under the Deen Dayal Swasth Seva Yojna (DDSSY). The Health Secretary, Sudhir Mahajan stated that more private hospitals are in the process of getting a government nod. This is for the benefit of the people of the State.
Under this scheme, an Insurance cover of Rs. 2,50,000 is fixed for a family of three and below, while for a family of more than three members, benefits upto Rs. 4,00,000 per annum will be given. The scheme was put forward to take the financial burden off people undergoing medical treatment. The scheme received about 1,10,00 applicants seeking health cards.
North Goa District Hospital-Mapusa, Goa Medical College & Hospita l- Bambolim, Sub-District Hospital, Ponda and Hospicio Hospital, Margao are a few hospitals already enlisted under this scheme.
