The music scene in Goa has come a long way. From psychedelic trance during the hippie era to rock, pop, hip-hop, house and so many other genres that are popular today, one needn’t go out of state to catch up on their favorite music. In the past, music events would happen only during the peak tourist season between October and May. Today, it’s a completely different scene with hotels, clubs, pubs and other venues holding shows throughout the year. Most restaurants now have live entertainment in the form of solo singing acts or acoustic music shows. Like Embers in Panjim. Every Wednesday is Unplugged with live acts playing acoustic music. This Wednesday, 24th October, Embers is hosting TLMP UNPLUGGED with Ranjit Arapurakal and Elvis Lobo.

Acoustic music

A lot of people love music played in the acoustic style. Acoustic music is basically played without any electronic enhancement to the sounds coming off the instrument being used. The retronym “acoustic music” appeared after the advent of instruments, such as the electric guitar, electric violin, electric organ, and synthesizer.

Acoustic or unplugged music is very soothing and pleasant to listen to. It blends influences from folk, bluegrass, jazz and world music and uses only acoustic instruments. Sometimes, a portable amplifier may be used to enhance just the sound. These kinds of shows are much quieter, making it easier for people to listen or sing along. Also, the venue tends to be much smaller for acoustic concerts.

TLMP UNPLUGGED WEDNESDAY (Oct 24th)

Embers is a new pub in Tonca, located close to the Miramar circle. It’s been open for just a few months but has already become popular with the party crowd thanks to its many nights with live music and entertainment.

This Wednesday, Embers is pleased to host and invite one an all to the TLMP UNPLUGGED WEDNESDAY ROCK – FUNK – IMPROV night featuring the RANJIT-ELVIS DUO

Ranjit Arapurakal – Vocals & Guitar
Elvis Lobo – Acoustic Guitars’of ‘Goa

Ranjit Arapurakal is a singer/songwriter from New Jersey, who made his debut in New York City before coming to Goa in 2015. A classically trained vocalist and self-taught multi-instrumentalist, his debut album “Bird of Fire” will be out this fall.

Together, Lobo and Arapurakal have formed a musical partnership that brings out the best in both of these talented artists. Arapurakal’s harmonic and rhythmic frameworks provide an ideal platform for Lobo to wield his virtuosic paintbrush. Expect to be thrilled by a sound you have never heard before, even if you have seen the duo perform together many times. This will be a rare acoustic performance by them and it’s not to be missed! The show begins at 20:00.
