Housed in the inner, open courtyard of an old Goan Hindu-style house is this Goan Specialty restaurant. Anandashram is one of the oldest eateries in Goa and is something of an institution for its affordable and delicious Goan fare. This modest eatery in the heritage precinct of Fontainhas is hugely popular for their fish, vegetable and chicken thalis. The place is packed during lunch for their special Fish Thali consisting of kingfish, some special fish or seafood.A Special Thali here typically consists of chapati, one vegetable, pickle, rice, fish curry, fried fish, some shell fish (Xinanyo),Sol Kadi-the cooling digestive made from kokum and so on.The Chicken Thali Comes with substantial portions of meat cooked in the Shagoti-Style with roasted garam masala. The Mori Masala, Prawn Masala,Fish Masala and fast moving items. The limited Chinese menu is strictly average.Stick to the Goan instead and you won’t be disappointed. They remain closed on Sundays
