Being in Goa, makes everyone yearn for really good food. Whether you visit or live here, you really want good, tasty food. And if you live in a joint Goan family, whatever your religion, home cooked food is great. It’s not fine dining though. And the best restaurant for fine dining that I have come across till date is Blacksheep Bistro. or BSB as it is better known to most people in Panjim.

For The Love of Food, Drink and Fine Dining

Prahlad and Sabreen Sukhtankar, owners and operators of The Blacksheep Bistro, are the consummate hosts, warm and professional, always on hand to help.

They met in Les-Roches, Switzerland while studying hotel management. Since then they have lived and worked in the hospitality industry all over Europe and North America. They finally returned to India, 14 long years later.

Prahlad also has the honor of being a part of a handful of sommeliers of wines and spirits in India, accredited by the International Sommelier Guild. For him, what started as a hobby, soon became a passion.

A passion for food is what led them to open The Blacksheep Bistro. They have visited different places in the world to sample their cuisines and cultures. “You can tell a lot about a culture through their food”, says Sabreen “and nowhere can you find a culture more vibrant than in India. And that is not an observation made through interaction with people, rather our food.” (Source – Blacksheep Bistro’s official page)

What’s On The Menu at The Blacksheep Bistro
Food

The Blacksheep Bistro operates on the concept of “Farm To Table”. They basically source organic produce and seafood for all the dishes on their fine dining menu. “Sourcing local ingredients empowers our guests to support local farmers and helps us work toward increased sustainability of our rivers, seas, and farmlands.”

The menu at the Blacksheep Bistro is a collection of masterpiece dishes along with unusual cocktails. A couple of my personal favorites on the tapas menu, are the Inspired Chorizo-Pav and The Chicken Liver Mousse. Served with local bread with a melt-in-the-mouth liver paté and ginger-kiwi spread cannot be missed.

The food at The Blacksheep Bistro keeps undergoing changes ever so often. Chances are, something that was on the menu last month might be missing this month. All the more reason to start going and keep going there regularly so that you get to try out as many of the dishes that you can. The Chonak fish with orange beurre blanc served with veggies and mashed potatoes is a really great dish for seafood lovers.

Drinks

Cocktails at The Blacksheep Bistro are just out of this world. Signature ones include the Amante Picante, The Dill Fling, and The Paan. With such delightfully quirky names, you have to taste to believe how awesome they really are.

And of course, we cannot forget their delicious Sangria. The best I have ever tasted (I believe personally). Sangria is served by the glass or by the pitcher. Go for the pitcher. Once you’ve had a sip, one glass isn’t going to satisfy you.

Dessert

Dessert is simple and just the right amount to end the night. Chocolate Lava cake or Churros with some sinful chocolate sauce hit the spot and leave you feeling all happy and content. Probably the perfect way to end a night at the Blacksheep Bistro.
